Typically, deep controlled breathes originating from the diaphragm usually activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which in turn, helps to keep the biological response that controls motion sickness.     You should deeply breathe through your nose into the lungs. During this process, your abdomen should expand. Then exhale slowly through the mouth or nose while relaxing your belly after each breath. Repeat the procedure severally.

    This method involves the application of pressure in some points to relieve symptoms that might lead to throwing up.

    3. Aromatherapy

    Using essential oil may relieve nausea and vomiting. However, the results are not precise about the effectiveness of this method. A particular study in 2014, however, indicated that inhaling lemon oil reduced incidences of nausea and vomiting in pregnant women.

    How to use this remedy?

    For effective results, try to breathe in deeply on an open essential oil bottle. If that may not work, place a few drops of the essential oil on a cotton ball and inhale it. Still, you can add the essential oil in a room diffuser to feel its effects.

    You can also use fresh lemon. Just cut it into half d inhale it. Other essential oils that might reduce nausea and throw up are clove, lavender, rose, chamomile, and Peppermint.

    4. Medications to stop vomiting

    Some over the counter medications like Pepto-Bismol and Kaopectate can stop throwing up (antiemetics). These drugs contain bismuth subsalicylate, which protects the stomach lining and reduces throwing up, especially the one caused by food poisoning.

    If you have vomiting arising from motion sickness, OTC antihistamines like Dramamine helps to stop vomiting. These drugs block the H1 histamine receptors that are responsible for stimulating vomiting.(3) (4)

    Morning sickness may be relieved by eating light bland foods such as saltine crackers and plain bread.
