Many people like to pull their hair back nice and tight, as it’s much more practical to keep your hair out of your eyes if you’re trying to work. The braid is a hairstyle that’s used for more active purposes, such as exercise or running.

The ponytail is a casual hairstyle that’s useful for every occasion, and it can be a professional and social hairstyle. Cornrows and hair extensions are unique styling methods, and they are used by many people to improve their appearance.

But what do all of these things have in common? That’s right: they may be responsible for causing hair loss.

Traction alopecia is the name given to the baldness that results from your hair being pulled too tightly – resulting in the hairs being strained.

When you pull your hair tight, you are pulling on the roots of the hair. Thankfully, the roots stay firmly in the follicles, but you will damage the follicles slightly each time you pull the hair tightly back into a braid, cornrow, or ponytail.

Your scalp will repair the damage, but it isn’t able to restore the follicle completely. Over time, the damage that is done to the follicle will become permanent, and your hair will not grow as fast as it once did. Eventually, the growth of your hair will slow down to the point that it just stops growing altogether.

Traction alopecia can be worsened by hair products, especially the ones that damage the hair follicles. When you bleach your hair, you are burning all of the keratin out of it.

Chemicals that change the appearance of your hair will also damage the follicles, and your hair will become easier to break thanks to the fact that it’s so brittle. Straightening your hair and using heat to treat your hair can do damage to it as well, and the result may be hair loss.

Anything that stops your hair from growing properly can cause baldness, as your scalp isn’t able to repair the hair follicles quickly enough. If you bleach, straighten, treat, or dye your hair, you’re putting it at risk.

In its weakened state, pulling it back and straining the roots can be the worst thing to do. You will be contributing to the traction alopecia. Your hair will have no chance, and yet you will be surprised when you find out that it’s falling out by the handful.

There are three simple things that you can do to prevent your hair from falling out:

1. Take care of your hair

This is very important, and you should nourish your hair as much as possible. Eat all the healthy foods. It will keep your hair healthy, such as protein, vitamins, and minerals.

Make sure to wash your hair regularly, and protect it against pollution, dryness, and infections.

2. Relax your hairstyle

Letting your hair fall in your face may be very annoying if you’re trying to work or work out, but why not pull it into a looser ponytail? You can wear a headband, a bandanna, or a hat to keep your hair out of your face.

You won’t be pulling on the roots of your hair if you wear these accessories. As long as you don’t pull it too tightly. You shouldn’t have to worry about traction alopecia.

3. Avoid damaging your hair

Treatments that dry your hair out will make it vulnerable to damage, both from the inside and from the outside. Make sure to keep your hair in good condition, and avoid dying it, using chemicals on it, using heat treatments, and doing anything that will damage your hair.

It may limit your hairstyle options. It’s always better to have hair, right?
If you do these things, you’ll find that your hair will be much healthier. You’ll reduce the risk that it will fall out sooner than it should.
